Award-winning IRO Jeannie Ong joins MyRepublic in advance of listing

Ong helped take StarHub public in 2004

Award-winning IR professional Jeannie Ong has joined MyRepublic, the Singapore-based digital telecoms company, in the newly created role of group chief investor relations officer (CIRO). The position is based in Singapore and effective immediately.

Ong, who also has responsibility for corporate communications, now ‘leads the charge’ in building relationships with investors and analysts as the company looks toward an IPO ‘in the near future,’ according to a statement.

‘The new group CIRO role signals our bold intent to take the company public,’ says Malcolm Rodrigues, MyRepublic’s group CEO, in the statement.

‘Jeannie is an IR veteran and I am delighted to have her in our team. Her strong industry reputation coupled with her robust business acumen will put us in an advantageous position as our business develops.’

Previously, Ong worked for more than 17 years at StarHub, where she held roles including chief strategic partnership officer, chief marketing officer and head of corporate communications and IR. She was part of the team that helped take StarHub public in 2004.

Ong has received various awards and other recognitions for her IR work. She was named the best IR professional for three consecutive years – 2012, 2013 and 2014 – at IR Magazine's South East Asia Awards. In 2018, she was also selected as one of IR Magazine’s 30 IR stars to celebrate the publication’s 30th anniversary.

In the statement, Ong adds: ‘I am honoured that MyRepublic invited me to join it at a time when the group is charting its next phase of growth and development, especially for its transformation business. I look forward to working closely with the team as we roll out our growth plans in Singapore and across the region.’
