Chicago-based aviation major promotes former star analyst for aerospace and defense
Aviation giant Boeing has announced the appointment of Troy Lahr as vice president of investor relations, effective February 1, 2013. Lahr takes over from Stephanie Pope, who has been promoted to vice president of financial planning & analysis. Both will report to the company’s CFO Greg Smith.
Lahr holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and an MSc in finance from Loyola University, Maryland. He joined Boeing’s defense, space & security business development team last year to focus on M&A.
Prior to this, he was a highly rated equity research analyst covering the aerospace and defense sectors, working for 12 years at US brokerage firm Stifel Financial, where he most recently held the position of managing director. During his tenure there, he was recognized by the Wall Street Journal as a Best on the Street equity analyst and by Forbes and StarMine as Top Stock Picker Aerospace and Defense.
‘Troy brings unique experience and capabilities to the investor relations role at Boeing with in-depth knowledge of our industry from the investment community perspective,’ comments Smith in a press release. ‘His proven ability to understand and communicate about our industry will help our financial stakeholders gain the understanding they need about Boeing’s business, our market and outlook.’
Boeing recently announced excellent sales figures for 2012, with 1,203 new orders logged and 601 jets delivered ‒ the firm’s highest figure since record year 1999 ‒ placing the US aircraft manufacturer ahead of its European competitor Airbus. Order increase was mostly driven by the commercial success of its latest model, the 737 MAX, which is due for market launch in 2016.
