Other companies in the running include Honeywell, Danaher and MedAssets
After appearing on eight short lists apiece, Covidien and Intel are not only the most nominated companies for the IR Magazine Awards – US 2014 but also have achieved this feat for the second consecutive year after equaling their short list tallies from the 2013 awards.
The IR Magazine Awards ‒ US, now in their 19th year, are among the industry’s most well-respected and sought-after honors for leading companies and individuals working in investor relations. The awards presentation will take place on the evening of Thursday, March 27, as part of a black-tie dinner and awards ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
Following in Covidien and Intel’s footsteps is Honeywell, with the New Jersey firm picking up five nominations. These three companies – along with Danaher, which is short-listed four times – will compete for the grand prix for best overall IR program at a large-cap company, defined as a firm with a market cap of at least $20 bn. The four companies will contest this award for the third year in a row, after Covidien won the category in 2012 and 2013.
Two medical firms are also in the running for four awards each – MedAssets and Wright Medical – including for the best overall IR program at a small-cap (sub-$2 bn) company, along with WisdomTree Investments and Jack in the Box. For mid-cap firms – those with a total capitalization of between $2 bn and $20 bn – the grand prix will be awarded to one of the following: Kansas City Southern, Edison International, Ryder System or L Brands (formerly Limited Brands).
The IR Magazine Awards – US 2014 are determined by a body of research that identifies the country’s top corporate IR teams and sheds light on the opinions of their investment communities. This survey is the only one of its kind that contacts respondents through a combination of electronic surveys and one-to-one telephone interviews conducted over the course of five months in 2013, canvassing the opinions of more than 800 investors, analysts and portfolio managers across the US.
