Downstream controller steps up to succeed IR head of four years

ExxonMobil has announced the appointment of Neil Hansen as its new vice president of IR and secretary, starting July 1.

This comes as Jeff Woodbury, a company veteran at the IR helm since 2014, is set to retire after 35 years at the firm.

An MBA graduate of the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Hansen joined the oil and gas major in 2000 as a financial analyst within ExxonMobil Exploration, later moving on to serve as audit division manager in Houston. He also had a spell as an IR adviser at the NYSE-listed firm, from 2010 to 2012.

In 2014 Hansen was appointed lead country manager and manager of business services for Thailand. Most recently, he has been serving as controller for the fuels and lubricants division.

The world’s largest listed oil and gas corporation, ExxonMobil came under pressure last year when a majority of shareholders – including heavyweights such as Vanguard – voted in favor of a resolution requiring more transparency on climate disclosure.
