Highlights from the IR Magazine Awards – Greater China 2013
China Telecom was top of the charts again at this year’s IR Magazine Awards – Greater China 2013, scooping six Awards at the Conrad Hotel in Hong Kong on December 5, and seeing off ever-tougher competition. The telecoms firm landed the top award of the evening – the grand prix for best overall IR at a large-cap company – alongside titles for best IRO, best corporate literature and best IR by a mainland Chinese company. The firm’s awards haul was easily enough to cement its position at the top of the IR Magazine Asia Top 50.
Other notable winners on the night include Galaxy Entertainment’s Peter Caveny, named best IRO at a Hong Kong company, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s head of investor relations Dr Elizabeth Sun, who won the title of best IRO at a Taiwanese firm, and Ping Cheng at Delta Electronics, who scooped best IR by a CEO or president.
Though many of the top companies in Greater China showed great consistency in their IR performance, one new entrant to the Greater China Top 30 – China State Construction Engineering Corporation – impressed with a best in sector award to accompany its first appearance in the IR Magazine rankings.
The winners were decided through an independent survey of 370 investors, buy-side analysts and sell-side analysts across Asia.
