Investment management arm of Bermuda-based reinsurer adds new head of business development amid IPO rumors
Third Point Reinsurance Investment Management, part of the Third Point Re group, has announced the appointment of Nick Zagoreos as its new head of business development, in charge of investor relations and capital raising for the firm’s catastrophe-linked funds.
A psychology graduate of Skidmore College, Zagoreos started out working in marketing before spending 10 years at investment bank Lazard, initially serving in the equity sales department in London, and subsequently within the firm’s private placement group.
In 2007 he joined hedge fund GLG Partners as a principal in the asset allocation group, staying on after the takeover in 2010 by Man Investments, where he most recently held the position of managing director, focusing on institutional business development.
Third Point Re was launched early last year by Third Point, the $11 bn hedge fund run by US billionaire Dan Loeb, who was recently reported to be planning an IPO for his reinsurance business. The Bermuda-incorporated company operates a catastrophe fund, in partnership with FTSE 250 insurer Hiscox, as well as other reinsurance underwriting facilities.
