Brad Samson named IR head for Huami

Samson joins Chinese-US health and tech firm listed on NYSE

Wearable health technology firm Huami – which says its mission is to connect health with technology – has named IR veteran Brad Samson as its new vice president of investor relations, based at the firm’s US headquarters in Cupertino, California.

The company is a global player in health and technology – namely smart watches and fitness bands, but also boasting proprietary technology including AI chips, biometric sensors and data algorithms. These ‘drive a broadening line of smart health products for consumers and analytics services for industry,’ says Huami in a company statement.

Samson brings experience in the field of wearable technology, says Mike Yeung, COO of Huami, having led investor relations at five companies covering everything from small caps to Silicon Valley unicorns.

‘Brad’s financial acumen and deep expertise in leading investor communications in the wearable technology sector is a tremendous asset to us, especially during this unprecedented time,’ says Yeung in a statement. ‘[He] brings a deep understanding of the complexities of our sector and a reputation for proactive relationship-building and stakeholder communications. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Huami family.’

Samson aims to expand awareness among US investors in the new role. ‘Huami is one of the global players in health and fitness data, analytics and wearables, but the company is not well known to US investors,’ he says in the statement.

‘Huami’s 42.3 mn units shipped in 2019 represented 26 percent of global smart watch and fitness band shipments last year, with proprietary technology in the space. I look forward to introducing investors to Huami’s growth opportunities.’
