Telecom Italia wins best website award

Italian telecoms company tops website ranking report for second year running

Telecom Italia has beaten off competition to take home the gong for the best corporate website out of 500 European firms at KW Digital’s annual Webranking Awards.

It scores 87.5 out of 100 points and is followed by fellow Italian firm Eni with 83.5. SCA, the Swedish producer of tissues, personal care and forest products, comes third with a score of 79.3 points.

‘Telecom Italia’s strong performance is a result of its willingness to reshape and rethink how it communicates online that is in tune with the fast-changing digital environment and behavior of people,’ says Staffan Lindgren, managing director at KW Digital, in a company release.

The KWD Webranking survey (formerly H&H Webranking) is in its 15th year, ranking the corporate websites of more than 900 companies worldwide, with global results published in January.

In the Middle East, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank tops the list, with Aluminium Bahrain in second place and Egyptian Orascom Construction in third. With the survey in its fourth year in the Middle East, researchers say companies are becoming ‘increasingly aware of the importance of online transparency as part of their strategy to implement best practice investor relations.’

The region’s Webranking survey looked at 138 of the largest companies from nine Middle East and North African countries this year.

In a company press release, Nicholas Lunt, managing director of M:Communications, which conducts the survey in the region each year, says, ‘Corporate websites have become the first stop for anyone seeking information about a specific company.

‘Listed companies today are compelled to use online channels, including social media, to tell their story and communicate their investment case beyond simply reporting the numbers – it is the most direct route to reach their target audiences and the most cost-effective way of attracting investors.’
