Assicurazioni Generali names Spencer Horgan as new head of IR

Italian insurance firm recruits Deutsche Bank’s head of European insurance equity research

Spencer Horgan is set to join Assicurazioni Generali as head of investor relations after 10 years at Deutsche Bank, announces the Italian insurer.

Starting on December 1, Horgan will replace Salvatore Colotti, who is to head up the company’s new capital and value management department.

Chartered accountant Horgan leaves his position as head of equity research for European insurance companies at Deutsche Bank, where he has worked for the past 10 years.

He joins Generali at a time when the firm is undergoing a restructuring process, started in September, in a bid to raise its profitability, efficiency and competitiveness.

A managerial reshuffle at the start of September saw former CFO Raffaele Agrusti take on the role of country manager for Italy, while the development and reorganization of group operations ‘designed to create a single organizational and operating platform’ falls to previous country manager Paolo Vagnone.

Alberto Minali, who began his professional career at Generali, has been brought in as the firm’s new chief financial officer, according to a company press release.
