BHP names new London-based IRO

Mining firm adds sell-side analyst to head IR for EMEA

Mining major BHP Billiton has hired a former sell-sider to head its IR team in London. Robert Clifford, a seasoned equity analyst focused on the metals and mining sector, will succeed Jonathan Price, the firm’s EMEA-dedicated vice president of IR of two and a half years.

Price, who joined the Perth-headquartered miner in 2006 as manager of business development, is moving on to a new role as CFO for the company’s marketing and supply business, based in Singapore.

Clifford has been serving at Deutsche Bank in London for the past eight years after having worked at ABN Amro in Melbourne.

BHP, which is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange as well as in London, New York and Johannesburg, also has a Melbourne-based IRO, Tara-Lynn Dines. The firm’s global IR team has been headed by former mining analyst Adrian Wood since February 2015.
