Global head of investor relations joined IR institute in 1995
Valerie Haertel, global head of investor relations at BNY Mellon, has been elected chair of NIRI’s national board for 2017.
She will take over from Felise Kissell, vice president of IR at HSN, whose term as chair finishes at the end of this year.

Haertel has been heavily involved with the US IR association for many years. A member since 1995, she has held leadership roles at the New York and Boston chapters, and currently serves as chair of NIRI’s board advocacy committee, which met with SEC staff last week.
She is also one of the first group of NIRI members to hold the Investor Relations Certificate, a new IR qualification launched by the association this year.
NIRI is currently searching for a new CEO and president after Jim Cudahy stepped down following this year’s annual conference in June. ‘The process is actively underway, and I will provide an update on this initiative as we make progress,’ Kissell said yesterday in NIRI’s weekly newsletter. ‘We have an extensive slate of prominent candidates for consideration.’
