Caldwell brings in search veteran Reynolds

Smooch Repovich Reynolds set up and ran her own search firm for 23 years

Caldwell Partners, the Toronto-based global search firm, has brought in investor relations veteran Smooch Repovich Reynolds to lead its new IR practice.

Most recently, Reynolds was senior vice president of communications at Irvine Company, the real estate developer, but prior to that she ran her own search business for 23 years.

In 1987, Reynolds founded The Repovich-Reynolds Group, which specialized in communications, IR and marketing roles. When she left to join Irvine in 2010, her consultancy was incorporated into search firm Stanton Chase.

Reynolds views the job market as healthy and says recent volatility has helped underline the importance of IR to management. ‘I think with the global capital markets being in the state of duress that they are, it has elevated the positioning of the function and its value to the company,’ she says.

During her career, Reynolds has been an active participant in NIRI and remains a member of the association’s Senior Roundtable Forum, which is typically only open to IR professionals with at least 10 years experience.

Before joining the executive search world, Reynolds held senior communications roles at Hill and Knowlton and United Cable Television. She has also authored a book, Be Hunted! 12 Secrets to Getting on the Headhunter’s Radar Screen.
