CIRI’s Annual Conference took place in person this week in Toronto. It brought together IROs to discuss day-to-day challenges and share ideas on how to take their IR programs and careers to the next level.
In the latest IR TV video, IR Magazine sits down with Adam Borgatti, senior vice president of corporate development and IR at Aecon Group and chair of CIRI’s national board of directors since 2022.
Borgatti discusses the main themes and highlights from this year’s event, titled ‘Elevate: Level up your IR career’, and shares advice on how to measure the effectiveness of companies’ IR programs.
‘The main focus is exactly what’s in [this year’s conference] title, which is elevating our IR programs,’ he says. ‘There has been such an evolution in AI, analytics, data-driven insights and the interaction with the Street, both buy side and sell side. So elevating your IR programs and leveling up are very relevant things today and I am delighted that they are key features of the program.’
As Yvette Lokker, president and CEO of CIRI, announced last week that she would step down from the role she’s held for the past decade, we asked Borgatti what the future holds for the IR association.
‘Yvette has been a tremendous resource for the Canadian capital markets and as head of CIRI for the last 10 years. She has put her heart and soul into the organization,’ he says, noting that Lokker is going to ‘help’ CIRI with the transition to its next leader and a formal search is now underway.
‘I think we’re in a great spot; it’s a great position Yvette has left the organization in for continued success,’ he adds.
