May replaces Howard Ungerleider, who moves to Dow’s new plastics division
Dow Chemical has promoted long-standing employee Doug May to the position of vice president of investor relations. May replaces Howard Ungerleider, who was named president of Dow Chemical’s new performance plastics division two weeks ago.
A Dow employee for 20 years, May has held a number of leadership roles at the company, most recently that of vice president of energy and climate change. In his new role, he reports to Dow Chemical’s CFO William Weideman.
Dow Chemical has transformed its portfolio of businesses over the last several years, says Weideman in a statement announcing the promotion. ‘Throughout our transformation, we have remained committed to providing transparent and timely communications to the investment community,’ he says.
‘I am confident Doug’s strong commercial, business and public policy background, coupled with his deep understanding of our strategic direction, will enable us to continue driving this sharp focus with investors.’
May holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s in business administration, both obtained from Purdue University, Indiana.
