No clear front-runner as region’s top corporates share nominations for highest IR honors
The short lists for the IR Magazine Awards – South East Asia 2014, now in its 10th year, are more competitive than ever, led by four companies that each boast five award nominations: DBS Group, Kasikornbank, PTT Exploration and Production and StarHub.
Three of the most short-listed companies – DBS Group, Kasikornbank and StarHub – are also all up for the grand prix for best overall investor relations at a large-cap company. They are joined by Singaporean telecoms company SingTel, which last won the grand prix in 2012 and is nominated in four categories this year.
Despite not being nominated for the grand prix, PTT Exploration and Production appears on five other short lists, including those for best IR by a CEO and best investor relations officer for Nuchanong Sangkeaw. The Thai energy firm appeared on only two short lists last year, though it finished within the South East Asia Top 25 rankings.
Joining SingTel with four nominations are two companies from the Philippines: Ayala Land and Metro Pacific Investments. Both firms were also short-listed in four categories in 2013 and have retained their position among the nominees for the grand prix for best overall investor relations at a small or mid-cap company. The top award for small or mid-cap companies will also be contested by Adaro Energy, AirAsia and Minor International, each of which picks up three nominations in 2014.
Last year’s top-ranked firm, CapitaLand, has nominations in four categories, though appears on two fewer short lists than it did in 2013. The Singapore-based firm will compete for the titles of best IR by a CFO and best IR in the real estate sector, both of which it won last year.
South East Asia’s Top 25 ranking will be revealed in the IR Magazine Investor Perception Study – Asia 2014/2015, which will be published soon after the IR Magazine Awards & Conference – South East Asia 2014 on December 9 in Singapore.
