HNI Corporation, the US-based manufacturer of office furniture and hearth products, has brought in experienced sell-sider Matthew McCall as its new vice president of investor relations and corporate development.
McCall's sell-side career stretches back over the last 20 years. Most recently, he was managing director and senior equity research analyst at Seagate Global Holdings, where he covered building products and furnishings.
Prior to that, he spent nearly 14 years at BB&T Capital Markets and three years at Wachovia Securities. He holds a degree in business administration from East Tennessee State University and an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
During his career, McCall has won multiple awards for his research work, according to a company statement. In 2018, he picked up two prizes at the StarMine Analyst Awards for top earnings estimator and top stock picker in the building products sector.
‘We are excited to have Matt join the HNI team,’ says Jeff Lorenger, HNI’s president and CEO, in the company statement. ‘Matt’s experience and expertise will help us drive deeper investor engagement.’
McCall is the latest senior equity analyst to move over to a corporate IR role – a career change that continues to grow in popularity. A 2018 study by IR Magazine found that 23 percent of IR department heads came from the sell side.
