Hydro One has promoted Omar Javed to vice president of investor relations and head of the IR team, effective earlier this month. The role has been vacant since last summer.
Javed has been with Hydro One since the company launched one of Canada’s largest IPOs in 2015 – for which the company won an IR Magazine Award – having most recently served as director of investor relations.
‘Omar Javed’s proven track record as a strong communicator and thoughtful business leader positions him well to engage with the investment community as we become a leading North American utility,’ says Hydro One CFO Paul Dobson in a statement. ‘His reputation for building relationships both externally and within Hydro One continues to improve the flow of information and our interface with Hydro One’s shareholders, creating greater value.’
‘I am excited to take on increased responsibility as Hydro One transforms into a leading investor-owned utility,’ Javed says in the announcement. ‘I look forward to working with the investors to promote transparency through effective disclosure to create significant shareholder value.’
Hydro One describes itself as Ontario’s largest electricity transmission and distribution provider, with more than 1.3 mn customers, more than C$25 bn ($19.9 bn) in assets and 2017 annual revenues of almost C$6 bn.
