‘I call myself an IR globetrotter’: Quick-fire Q&A with the editorial board’s Müge Yücel

Director of IR and sustainability at Galata Wind Enerji discusses her love of photography and meditation

IR Magazine is proud to introduce its new editorial board. It is made up of 12 seasoned investor relations professionals from across the world, each working at companies in different sectors and of varying cap sizes, but with one thing in common: a passion for pursuing excellence in the profession.

Over the coming weeks, we will be introducing you to each of our board members, who will be working alongside IR Magazine to advise our editorial team about emerging trends, themes and issues facing the profession around the world. You may also hear from them on the IR Voice podcast or on our videos and you might read their words in our weekly Editor’s Picks newsletter.

This week we hear from Müge Yücel, director of investor relations and sustainability at Galata Wind Enerji, a renewable energy producer with wind and solar plants, known as the first green IPO in Turkey when it went public in April 2021. Below, she discusses how photography and mediation help underpin her approach to investor relations.

How would you sum up your approach to IR in three words?

Proactive, strategic and engaging.

What’s been your most memorable IR moment?

My most memorable IR moment was orchestrating a virtual investor conference during the pandemic. Transitioning to a fully digital format was a challenge, but it also provided a unique opportunity for innovation. We used cutting-edge technology to create an immersive experience, including showcasing a range of speakers, joint presentations and interactive Q&A sessions.

The event saw record attendance and engagement, with investors appreciating the convenience and accessibility of the digital platform. The experience highlighted the importance of adaptability and innovation in investor relations and set a new standard for our future events.

What’s something people don’t typically know about you?

What most people do not know about me is that I call myself an ‘investor relations globetrotter’ and that I got into photography through my travels. I take great pleasure in capturing moments and culture, the beauty of people and cityscapes. Photography allows me to see the world from different perspectives and inspires my creativity – photographing while traveling or traveling to capture experiences?

I am also a master of emotional freedom techniques (EFT) and a meditation teacher. I use EFT to help others overcome their limiting beliefs, neutralize traumatic events and unleash their full potential. This method involves tapping specific meridian points while focusing on negative emotions or physical sensations, resulting in profound emotional and psychological healing. Teaching EFT and meditation gives me a deep sense of fulfillment when I experience the transformative effect these techniques have on people’s lives.
