What’s left on the IR calendar for this year?

October
October 5 sees the IR Magazine Think Tank ‒ Canada 2016, held at TMX Broadcast Centre in Toronto. Following the same format as its West Coast counterpart, the event will bring together leading IR practitioners from companies including the Altus Group, Detour Gold and Canadian Tire.
At the end of the month on October 27, the IR Magazine Conference – UK & Ireland 2016 takes place at the London Stock Exchange. Exclusively for IROs based in the UK and Ireland, the event will focus on key issues affecting IROs on a day-to-day basis including Brexit, new market regulations and the changing face of reporting.
‘This conference will be the meeting place for IROs in the UK and Ireland and presents an ideal opportunity to find out about global IR best practice and ways to improve IR activity,’ comments Sébastien Dutrieu, EMEA & Asia sales director at IR Magazine. ‘Our events are researched in the IR community so we know exactly what people want to find out about and what’s important to them; we’re expecting lots of discussions around topical themes that address IROs’ needs and challenges.’

On November 3, more than 400 industry professionals in the governance, risk and compliance (GRC) world will gather to celebrate the best of the best in GRC at the ninth annual Corporate Secretary Corporate Governance Awards. The awards will celebrate industry excellence at a gala event to be held at Cipriani 25 Broadway in New York City.
The IR Magazine Conference – Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) takes place on November 10 at the Vienna Stock Exchange in Austria. This one-day thought-leadership event is exclusively for IROs based in the CEE region and themes will include the impact of macroeconomics on IR, the focus for IR in 2017, and more.
November 22 sees the return of the UK’s annual IR Society’s Best Practice Awards.Now in their 16th year, the awards celebrate UK IR achievements, as Laura Hayter, head of policy and communications at the IR Society, explains: ‘The promotion of best practice in IR is one of the cornerstones of the IR Society’s existence and the annual Best Practice Awards play a crucial part in this. Our annual awards recognize and reward those companies and individuals demonstrating excellence in investor relations.’
Finally for the month, the Australasian Investor Relations Association (Aira) Annual Conference and Best Practice IR Awards will take place at the Westin Hotel, Sydney on November 24. ‘The global economic environment, increased focus on practices surrounding ESG reporting and engagement by listed entities with the investment community, and the changing dynamics of the sell side are the three biggest challenges shaping the future direction of IR,’ says Aira’s CEO, Ian Matheson. ‘These topics, along with high-profile industry experts, are certainly program highlights at Aira’s 2016 annual conference.’

The year draws to a close with two IR Magazine events taking place in Asia. On December 1, the IR Magazine Awards & Conference – South East Asia 2016,in association with Stock Exchange of Thailand, will take place in Bangkok. More than 150 delegates from the region will come together to look at the very best the IR community has to offer. The conference will be followed by an awards ceremony that recognizes leading individuals and companies.
On December 6, the Conrad Hong Kong will host the IR Magazine Awards & Conference – Greater China 2016. More than 200 senior IR professionals will attend the conference where IROs from small, mid and large-cap companies discuss key issues relating to IR, corporate governance, shareholder needs and the role of senior management in investor relations. An awards ceremony that celebrates IR excellence across greater China will follow.
