Macerich names new senior vice president of investor relations

Malls owner signs up former REIT equity research analyst John Perry

Santa Monica-headquartered Macerich, a major owner of regional shopping centers in the US, has named John Perry as its new senior vice president of investor relations.

Perry joins the NYSE-listed firm after 15 years as a real estate investment trust (REIT) equity research analyst, primarily at Deutsche Bank, according to a Macerich press release announcing his appointment.

‘Over the course of his career, he oversaw both the bank’s US and European REIT research efforts,’ the statement notes. ‘In addition to producing insightful fundamental stock analysis and research, during this time Perry built up an extensive network of relationships throughout the investor, analyst, corporate and investment banking communities.’

Macerich is a REIT trust focused on the acquisition, leasing, management, development and redevelopment of regional malls across the US, with some 65 mn square feet of ‘gross leasable area’, primarily at 62 centers.

‘I have worked with John for many years and know his REIT background and his knowledge of both the sell side and buy side will be extremely valuable to us,’ says Thomas O’Hern, senior executive vice president and CFO, welcoming Perry to Macerich in the press release. ‘We are convinced he will help us enhance our relationships with the investment community.’

Perry adds: ‘With a solid core portfolio providing visible long-term growth, a deep pipeline of development, redevelopment and expansion opportunities to drive additional upside and an enhanced focus on becoming an industry leader in market transparency, Macerich is uniquely well positioned to add shareholder value in the years to come.’
