Mike Stefanski steps up to lead Verizon’s investor relations

New head of IR to take over from John Doherty on January 1, 2013

Mike Stefanski, current senior vice president and treasurer at US telecoms giant Verizon, is set to become the company’s new face for investors as senior vice president leading the IR program.

He will take over from John Doherty from January 2013, when Doherty moves to lead Verizon’s strategic mergers, acquisitions and divestitures organization, according to a company press release.

Stefanski has been with the company since 1990, joining the firm in its previous incarnation as Bell Atlantic and climbing the management ranks to become corporate treasurer last year. Before becoming treasurer at the second-largest telecoms group in the US, he served as chief financial officer for Verizon consumer and mass business and global wholesale.

He has a BSc in accounting from the Pennsylvania State University and a master’s in business administration from Villanova University, and is a member of the Junior Achievement of New Jersey state board and the board of trustees for the Quaker School of Horsham, Pennsylvania.

Doherty has served as head of IR at Verizon since September 2010, initially joining the company in 2003. The company statement from Verizon Communications says it will name a successor to fill Stefanski’s current role at ‘a later date’.
