MSCI, the provider of indices and other tools to the investment community, has announced the appointment of Salli Schwartz as the company’s new treasurer and head of IR.
Most recently, Schwartz worked at Moody’s Corporation as global head of strategic capital management and treasurer. While there, she combined the IR and treasury teams to create a department called the strategic capital management group, which had a staff of 20 people globally.
At the time of the change, Moody’s CFO Mark Kaye said in a statement that ‘combining our investor relations and treasury operations into a single, strategic capital management function will provide greater efficiency in our financial communications and broaden the perspective we provide to our market constituents.’
In total, Schwartz spent 12 years at Moody’s in a series of senior finance and corporate development roles, including global head of IR for more than five years. She started her career at Legg Mason as an analyst in the firm’s investment banking division.
‘We are thrilled Salli is joining MSCI,’ says Linda Huber, CFO of MSCI, in a company statement. ‘Her 20 years in financial services, particularly in establishing and executing capital strategy, developing robust investor communication programs and managing relationships with shareholders, ratings agencies and sell-side analysts, will ensure we continue to maximize shareholder value.’
Meanwhile, Moody’s Corporation has named Shivani Kak as its new head of investor relations. Kak has worked at Moody’s since 2008 and was most recently responsible for the US structured finance sales team within the investors service commercial team.
