Polina Ugryumova has been named director of investor relations at MTS, the telecoms giant with more than 100 mn mobile customers across Russia, Ukraine, Armenia and Belarus.
Ugryumova joins the Moscow-headquartered company, which has a dual listing on the NYSE and the Moscow Exchange, from Morgan Stanley, where she was part of the EMEA technology, media and telecoms (TMT) equity research team and since 2008 focused on Russia, Turkey, Central & Eastern Europe and CIS as well as the wider EMEA TMT sector.
‘Polina brings a depth of expertise in the telecommunications industry, as well as many years of experience in the financial sector,’ says Alexey Kornya, president and CEO of MTS, in a statement welcoming her to the company.
‘[She] is well known to many of our investors from her previous role as a sell-side analyst, an experience that gives her unique perspective on the changes taking place within the investor community and the challenges we face in sustaining our dialogue with key financial stakeholders. We are counting on Polina to enhance our equity story to communicate our digital strategy and engage new investors.’
Over the past three years of Ugryumova’s time with Morgan Stanley, the team was ranked top three by both Institutional Investor and Extel, according to MTS.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Ugryumova – a CFA Institute Charterholder who graduated with honors from Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance in 2001 – held a number of positions in equity research.
