NBAD appoints Miller as head of IR

Michael Miller joins UAE’s National Bank of Abu Dhabi after five years at BNY Mellon

National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has announced the appointment of Michael Miller as head of investor relations.

Miller joins the bank from a managing director position at BNY Mellon, where he worked for five years and oversaw IR and client management functions.

The new head of IR has more than 15 years’ experience of strategic management. Previous roles include director of IR at Dun & Bradstreet and senior finance manager at Avaya.

‘Miller’s experience and skills will be an asset for the National Bank of Abu Dhabi,’ comments NBAD’s deputy group chief executive Abdulla AbdulRaheem in a statement. He ‘will strengthen the bank’s communication with various constituencies, including investors, analysts and ratings agencies.’

Miller says in the statement that ‘NBAD is known and admired globally for its financial success and achievement’ and that he looks forward ‘to contributing to the bank’s ongoing success’ in his new role.

The appointment comes just a day after NBAD, the largest bank by market value in the UAE and ranked 32 on Global Finance’s list of the world’s 50 safest banks, posted a 2 percent rise in profits for Q2 compared with the same period in 2011.

It was revealed earlier this year that NBAD’s long-standing CEO, Michael Tomalin, is set to retire. Tomalin, who has been CEO at the bank for the last 13 years, will move to a non-executive director role once his replacement has been found, but no successor has yet been announced.
