San Francisco-based real estate firm hires David McWhorter to lead investor relations
Carmel Partners, which specializes in ‘multifamily properties’, has named David McWhorter as its new head of IR, effective from July 8. Based at the firm’s San Francisco headquarters, McWhorter will serve as a member of Carmel’s investment committee, as well as taking responsibility for investor relations.
McWhorter, who brings more than 30 years’ institutional real estate investment experience to the role, joins Carmel from AEW Capital Management, where he served as IR director for more than 10 years.
During his time at AEW, McWhorter was ‘directly responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships with US institutional investors, including public and corporate pension plans, endowments and foundations,’ according to a Carmel press statement.
Ron Zeff, Carmel’s founder and CEO, welcomed McWhorter to the firm. ‘We are very excited to have a professional of David’s caliber join the Carmel team,’ he says. ‘He has a broad set of skills and experience, and he is a proven leader in managing institutional investor relationships. I have no doubt he will expertly serve our investor base, which includes many of the nation’s top real estate fund investors.’
Founded in 1992, Carmel currently employs 605 staff across offices in New York, Irvine, Denver, Seattle, Washington, DC and Honolulu – as well as its San Francisco headquarters – and manages almost 17,000 apartment units.
