New vice president of communications at Hill+Knowlton Strategies

Leading Canadian advisory firm hires communications veteran David Climie

Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K), a Canadian public relations and public affairs company and part of global communications major WPP, has appointed David Climie as vice president of communications.

Climie has more than 20 years’ experience in the communications arena including investor relations, financial communications, media relations, public affairs and business development. His expertise covers the energy, industrial equipment and technology sectors.

He joins H+K from QLT, a biotechnology company focused on ocular therapies, where he has served as vice president of corporate communications and investor relations since 2011. Prior to this, he held the same position at semiconductor company PMC-Sierra.

From 2006 to 2010, he was a director of IR and corporate affairs at Finning International, the largest distributor of Caterpillar products. He previously worked in communications and public affairs for Canadian gas producer Westcoast Energy.

Climie holds a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and an MA in journalism and communications from the University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the communications committee for the British Columbia Business Council and a member of the policy and advocate committee for biotech industry association LifeSciences BC.
