Pharmaceutical communications specialist Allison Wey takes on IR at recently listed healthcare firm
NASDAQ-listed Durata Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of new treatments against infectious diseases, has appointed Allison Wey as vice president of investor relations and public affairs, based in the firm’s Chicago office.
She joins from Par Pharmaceuticals, where she had been vice president of investor relations and corporate affairs since 2007. Par was acquired this year by private equity firm TPG Capital.
An economics and marketing graduate of Drake University, Wey started her career in 1983 as a trading floor reporter for the American Stock Exchange in New York, before joining Bear Stearns, where she worked in the equity capital markets division for 11 years, making her way up to associate director.
In 1997 she joined advisory firm Hill & Knowlton as managing director for the financial communications department, moving on a year later to be senior vice president of financial public relations at PR giant Edelman.
She was then hired by medical education communications agency Boron LePore and Associates, now part of Cardinal Health, to serve as senior vice president of investor relations and corporate communications between 1999 and 2002.
Durata conducted an IPO three months ago and is approaching important clinical, regulatory and commercialization milestones for its future development. The company is currently in the penultimate final testing phase for its lead product candidate, Dalbavancin, an antibacterial aimed at patients with acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections.
