Nike IRO promoted to CFO

Former Disney executive to take on top finance role

Nike has announced that Andrew Campion, currently senior vice president of finance, strategy and IR, will succeed CFO Donald Blair when Blair retires in October.

An MBA alumnus of UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, Campion joined the footwear giant in 2007 as vice president of global planning and development and was promoted three years later to CFO of the Nike brand, a role overseeing ‘all aspects of financial management for nearly 90 percent of Nike’s business.’

He spent most of his early career at the Walt Disney Company in various financial positions including managing attorney in tax, strategic planning and treasury, and vice president of corporate financial communications and development. Prior to joining Nike, he was serving as senior vice president of corporate development.

‘We are pleased Andy will be stepping into the CFO role,’ says CEO Mark Parker in a company release announcing the promotion. ‘I have worked closely with Andy over the last eight years as he has led corporate strategic planning, served as CFO for our flagship Nike brand, and most recently as the head of finance, strategy and IR. We have a strong business plan in place and we look forward to Andy’s leadership in guiding our financial strategy as we continue to drive profitable growth in our business worldwide.’

Blair has been the NYSE-listed firm’s CFO for 16 years, where he has been ‘instrumental in shaping [the firm’s] long-term financial strategy’ while helping deliver ‘top-quartile total shareholder return of 16 percent a year.’ The Wharton MBA graduate, who previously spent 15 years in financial management positions at PepsiCo, will retire in October after handing over the reins to Campion in August.

Nike’s IR performance was well rated last year with its team making 41st place in the IR Magazine US Top 100 rankings. The Oregon-headquartered firm, which posted revenue and profit figures both up nearly 10 percent year on year, saw its share price come close to a $100 peak at the end of 2014.
