Novo Nordisk appoints new head of IR

Former healthcare analyst steps in as award winning Poulsen moves on to financial planning

Novo Nordisk, winner of the grand prix for best overall investor relations (large cap) at this year’s IR Magazine Awards – Europe 2015, is losing its head of IR to the financial planning division.

Kasper Roseeuw Poulsen, who joined the Danish pharmaceuticals firm in 2006 as a finance graduate, has been heading the IR team since 2012. He had previously worked in IR from 2008 to 2011, before moving to the firm’s Zurich office to manage business planning and execution. In his new role, he will serve as corporate vice president in corporate financial planning.

Stepping in to succeed Poulsen is Peter Hugreffe Ankersen, a former equity analyst. Hugreffe Ankersen has covered healthcare sector firms, including Novo Nordisk, at ABG Sundal Collier and most recently at Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken. Prior to this, the MBA graduate from Copenhagen Business School spent nearly 10 years on the buy side, serving in portfolio management roles at Alfred Berg and BankInvest.

Under Poulsen’s leadership, Copenhagen-headquartered Novo Nordisk gained multiple recognition at the IR Magazine awards – Europe, winning, among others, the best in sector and best in country (now best in region) accolades for the sixth consecutive time this year, as well as snatching the top spot from serial winner BASF.

At the awards ceremony held in June, Poulsen expressed his surprise – and delight – on stage to have surpassed the German chemicals major and its highly renowned IRO Magdalena Moll.
