Former VMA chief sets up own business in London
After nine years at London-headquartered recruitment firm VMA and nearly five months’ gardening leave, the company’s former managing director Oskar Yasar has set up in business on his own.
Based opposite Claridge’s in London’s Mayfair, the Oskar Yasar Partnership will focus on executive search in the fields of IR, internal communications and corporate communications.

Yasar says he already has eight senior-level mandates for both in-house and agency posts. That suggests some of his initial work might have to be internally focused. ‘We are looking to recruit additional partners,’ he confirms. But he adds that he doesn’t want to find himself in a pure management role. ‘I want to be at the coalface myself,’ he explains. ‘I don’t want to be passing all the real work on to the team.’
At launch in mid-July, Yasar’s partnership had itself already signed a partnership agreement with Moss Perform, an executive coaching firm founded and led by Jo Moss, formerly of Brunswick, who is herself a partner and board director of the Oskar Yasar Partnership. Yasar’s third co-director at launch, a non-executive, is Laurence Borde, chair of Media Tree in London and co-founder of Moss Perform.
Partnership is certainly the theme of the business for Yasar. ‘But it isn’t just the name on our door,’ he insists. ‘It’s the promise to work as a dedicated and long-term partner with our clients and candidates.’
The launch party will be at Claridge’s.
