Canadian gold mining firm hires former IRO of competitor
Allan Candelario has been appointed by gold mining firm Rubicon Minerals as director of investor relations to replace retiring vice president of IR Bill Cavalluzzo.
Candelario studied finance at York University’s Schulich School of Business, starting his career in 2004 as a performance analyst at US asset management firm Russell Investments.
In 2006 he was hired by investment dealer Fraser Mackenzie to serve as an equity research analyst, moving on to the same role at Canadian financial group TD Securities two years later.
After gaining a master’s degree from the University of Southern California in 2010, Candelario joined the investor relations team at Canadian mining company Alamos Gold.
Rubicon has assets in Ontario’s Red Lake gold district, including its flagship development, the Phoenix Gold Project, which is fully permitted and funded and expected to produce 180,000 ounces of gold per year for the 12 years of mine life. In a company press release, CEO Michael Lalonde says Rubicon is aiming to begin ‘producing gold bars’ in early 2014.
