Saemor Capital appoints new IR head

Aegon-backed hedge fund adds seasoned institutional investment professional to its investor relations team

The Hague-based Saemor Capital has appointed Mary Kahng to head its IR team, with responsibility for developing the fund’s relationship with ‘institutional investors, including pension funds, funds of funds, insurance companies, not-for-profits, family offices and wealth managers,’ according to a company press release.

A political science and French graduate of Wellesley College, Kahng started her career in 1993 in investment consulting services at Merrill Lynch. She subsequently worked for Bear Sterns Asset Management from 1998 to 2002, also gaining an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business, before spending 12 years at Ivy Asset Management, a New York-based hedge fund of funds. She more recently served as a director and product specialist for alternative investments at ING, based in the Netherlands and focusing on European investors.

‘We are excited to have Mary join our investor relations team,’ says the firm’s founder and chief executive Sven Bouman. ‘She has deep experience in the alternative investments space and a proven track record of working with institutional investors. We are actively engaging with investors on many fronts, most notably in the US, where we see demand from high-quality investors for quantitative hedge funds. With Mary on board, we will be able to best service these investors and understand their distinct and complex needs.’

Saemor Capital specializes in quantitative investing in the European equity sphere and has $600 mn of assets under management.
