Speakers revealed for IR Magazine Conference – South East Asia 2016

Macroeconomic challenges and ESG issues top conference agenda 

The IR Magazine Conference – South East Asia 2016, to be held in Bangkok on December 1, explores a number of important IR issues, supported by a top range of speakers. 

The day will begin by looking at the timely issue of macroeconomic challenges and opportunities in 2017, investigating the following points:

• What to expect in the next 12 months – geopolitics, oil prices, exchange rates, security issues, and more

• Key drivers that cause investors to adjust portfolios or analysts to adjust earnings forecasts

• Which part of the world are investors putting money into? What are the risks they see?

• What do lower oil prices mean for the large sovereign wealth funds? Will they have to retrench?

• How to effectively communicate the factors driving your stock, and how this can limit portfolio risk and reduce exposure to certain macroeconomic factors

• Communicating during uncertain times – what is expected? What do investors want to see in these special communications?

The speakers exploring these issues will be:

Jiraporn Rungsrithong, former chief investment officer, GMM Grammy

Pattaralada Sa-ngasang, executive vice president of finance & accounting and senior vice president of financial planning, Thaioil Group 

There will also be a major session exploring ESG and IR best practice, which will look at:

• Integrating ESG into established IR practice effectively – coping with the surge in investors’ interest

• Building confidence and knowledge in the area to respond effectively to ESG-related questions

• Applying standard IR disciplines to sustainability and corporate governance issues such as investor analysis and targeting & communications programs

• Focusing on key issues that have the potential to impact long-term value creation for the business

• Separating ESG risks from opportunities and evaluating factors that will affect a company

• Exploring cost-effective methods of communication, including hosting an annual webcast around sustainability performance for analysts and investors
