The mid-cap technology firm Tech Data has hired Tania Almond as its director of investor relations, reporting into Arleen Quinones, the company’s corporate vice president of corporate communications and investor relations.
Almond started in the vacant role in mid-December, and is now working with Quinones to develop and execute a proactive and measurable IR program. Almond confirms that her role had previously been an IR manager position, but the company saw fit to hire at a more senior level.
Almond has 20 years of experience in investor relations at companies such as WR Grace, GXS, Sourcefire, WiderThan, NeighborCare and Digex. She started her career in equity research at Legg Mason Wood Walker.
ESG will be an early focus for Almond in her new role, she tells IR Magazine. ‘From a department perspective we do have a focus on ESG this year as a company,’ she says. ‘I’ll definitely be participating in that. It’s exciting for me because Tech Data is really at the point in its life cycle where it’s ready to start embracing ESG in a bigger way. Sometimes it can be hard to get the internal focus, but here we have that.’
