Truist Financial names new head of IR

North Carolina-headquartered commercial bank promotes Ankur Vyas to head of investor relations

Truist Financial has announced Ankur Vyas, who joined the bank’s heritage institution SunTrust in 2013 before a merger of equals between SunTrust and BB&T created Truist Financial, as the bank’s new head of investor relations.

Vyas, who most recently led Truist Wealth Omni Channel, previously led the SunTrust IR team for six years.

At SunTrust, Vyas also served as assistant treasurer for three years, where he was responsible for capital management, funding, and liquidity management. Truist Financial also notes that Vyas was responsible for SunTrust's first corporate social responsibility program.

He takes on the role with immediate effect, reporting to Daryl Bible, CFO of the Charlotte, North Carolina-headquartered commercial bank.

‘A core component of our mission at Truist is to optimize long-term value for all of our stakeholders. One of the ways we achieve this is by delivering high quality, consistent and transparent communications to the investment community about our long-term strategy and financial performance,’ Bible says in a statement announcing the appointment.

‘We're excited to welcome Ankur back to finance and have him lead this effort for the company as he brings extensive investor relations and overall financial services industry knowledge to his new leadership role.’

Prior to joining SunTrust, Vyas - a chartered financial accountant - served as a vice president in the Financial Institutions Group at Goldman Sachs, where he provided corporate finance, M&A and capital raising advice to financial services companies, with a focus on the banking sector and more specifically the finance sector in North America. Before Goldman Sachs, Vyas worked in strategic planning at First Horizon National Corporation and structured credit products at Bank of America.

Vyas was named to the 2016, 2017 and 2018 Institutional Investor All-America Executive Teams as one of the top investor relations professionals in the large-cap banks sector.
