Healthcare-focused private equity and venture capital fund manager names Mike Cleary to lead IR program
Tullis Health Investors signs up Mike Cleary, who brings more than 30 years’ experience to the table, after a career taking in roles at JP Morgan, Bear Sterns, BNY Mellon-West LB Asset Management and Thomas Capital Group.
Coming most recently from Equus Financial Consultants & Crossbay Capital Partners, where he served as managing director, Cleary has spent the past 18 years of his career in the US and international private equity markets. He ‘maintains a significant network of institutional investors, partners, consultants, advisors and intermediaries with whom he will continue to work closely,’ says Tullis in a press statement.
‘Healthcare spending is now 17 percent of US GDP and continues to grow. We anticipate significant changes in the US healthcare delivery model with many opportunities for profitable investing. Our population is aging, our technology is continuing to advance, and our needs for healthy solutions and for effective and cost efficient solutions have never been greater,’ says Cleary in the release.
‘I believe Tullis is well positioned, with its track record of successful investing in the healthcare industry, its team of experienced investment personnel and its broad connections and unique perspectives,’ he continues. ‘I am extremely excited to be joining Tullis Health Investors at this time, and contributing to its success and its expansion in the rapidly growing and dynamic healthcare sector worldwide.’
The US-based company, which has offices in Stamford, Connecticut and North Palm Beach, Florida, also has international operations – including a presence in Beijing.
Over his expansive career, Cleary has served on partnership and investment advisory boards and committees, held board positions on private companies and co-investments and was a founding member of the Institutional Limited Partners’ Association (ILPA).
All this makes for a great addition to the company, says Tullis founder and CEO Jim Tullis, who founded the firm in 1986, welcoming Cleary to the company.
‘He brings broad insights, as a CPA, having been controller of a large pension organization, then working as a limited partner when he managed alternative investments at VRS, and still later being a general partner in a successful fund-of-funds,’ says Tullis. ‘Mike also has extensive relationships throughout the investment community and valuable perspectives, reflecting his role as a co-founder of ILPA,’ he concludes.
