Andrew Hersom joins People’s United Bank
People’s United Bank, a US financial services company based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, has brought in Andrew Hersom as its new senior vice president of investor relations.
Jack Barnes, CEO at the bank, says in a press release that he is ‘very pleased’ to welcome Hersom to the company: ‘His depth of experience in the investor relations community along with his extensive financial and communications knowledge will serve our investors and the market well.’
Hersom joins the New England banking group directly from the Travelers Companies, one of the US’ largest commercial and personal insurance underwriters. He served as its director of IR for seven years, responsible in that time for both communicating with the Travelers Companies’ investment community and liaising with senior management.
Before that, he was a financial analyst with Citigroup and a revenue officer for the Internal Revenue Service. He holds a degree in economics from Providence College and an MBA in finance from the University of Connecticut.
Hersom takes over from Peter Goulding, People’s United’s former head of investor relations, who is taking on responsibility for the firm’s corporate development and strategic planning.
‘We all recognize that Peter has devoted a tremendous amount of time and energy to both IR and corporate development issues since joining the bank in January 2009,’ says Barnes of the bank’s new strategic planning head. ‘He will focus on the latter in his new position. We thank Peter for his past leadership in investor relations and wish him continued success in his new role.’
People’s United Bank is, says Barnes, the largest independent bank in the state of New England. Founded in 1842, it currently services more than $35 bn in assets and maintains more than 400 retail locations throughout the US Northwest.
