‘We are seeing an increased level of interest from overseas investors looking for opportunities in the European commercial real estate market,’ says Kirkby, commenting on Benhamou’s appointment in a press release. ‘Greg will be at the heart of our efforts to attract new investors and equity from around the globe, while at the same time continuing to deliver exceptional service to our existing investors.’
Before joining Valad, Benhamou – who holds an MBA from French business school HEC Paris and a masters in finance and accounting – served 12 years at GE Capital Real Estate, where his most recent role was as head of EMEA investor relations, a position he held for four years. During his tenure, Benhamou was part of the firm’s global investment management leadership team ‘responsible for creating and building GE's €2 bn European real estate investment management business’.
With 22 offices in 12 countries, Valad Europe manages €4.3 bn of assets in Europe – across 16 funds and mandates – made up of more than 600 assets and 5,500 clients, according to the company.
