Few would dispute that DBS's surprise share placement last November was a success - for several reasons. First, the offering amounted to S$2.2 bn (US$1.2 bn), the equivalent of 40-50 days worth of trading volume, and it was one of the largest ever in Singapore, if not in the Asia-Pacific region.
