Short lists announced for the IR Magazine Awards – Canada 2020

Agnico Eagle Mines, ARC Resources and Fortis lead the pack with six nominations each

We’ve postponed our awards ceremony to a later date due to the situation surrounding Covid-19. The IR Magazine Awards - Canada will now be held on October 19, 2020.

The short lists for the IR Magazine Awards – Canada 2020 have been revealed, with just a month to go until the gala dinner at The Ritz-Carlton in Toronto.

Agnico Eagle Mines, ARC Resources and Fortis have all had success at recent IR Magazine Awards events and the three companies lead the pack this year with six nominations each.

Agnico Eagle Mines is nominated in the best investor relations (large cap), best IR by a senior management team (large cap), best financial reporting, best in sector: materials (large cap) and best ESG reporting categories, while Brian Christie is nominated in the best investor relations officer (large cap) category.

ARC Resources is nominated in the best investor relations (mid-cap), best IR by a senior management team (mid-cap), best in sector: energy (mid-cap), best use of technology and social media for IR and best IR website categories, with Kris Bibby up for best investor relations officer (small to mid-cap). Bibby is now the company’s CFO.

Fortis is up for the best investor relations (large cap), best IR by a senior management team (large cap), best financial reporting, best IR by a Canadian company in the US market and best in sector: utilities categories, while Stephanie Amaimo is in contention for the best investor relations officer (large cap) trophy.

In total, 27 awards will be presented at the gala event on April 2 in Toronto. Nominees and winners in 21 of those categories are determined by surveying the investment community, with the research conducted by an independent third-party firm.

The remaining six categories are determined by a nomination process, with companies putting themselves forward or being nominated by their peers and service providers. These entries were vetted by the IR Magazine editorial team to produce a short list. The winners will be selected by a judging panel. This year’s judges are:

  • Ben Ashwell, editor, IR Magazine
  • Colleen Johnston, corporate board director
  • Yvette Lokker, CIRI CEO
  • Pat Marshall, former investor relations officer at Cineplex and lifetime achievement award recipient
