Investor relations is in a transitional year following the Covid-19 pandemic and companies should try to get back to physical meetings where possible, said Ramon Alvarez-Pedrosa, director of IR at Spanish energy giant Repsol.
‘We are starting now to come back to normality,’ said Alvarez-Pedrosa, speaking on the red carpet at the IR Magazine Awards – Europe 2022, where Repsol was nominated for three prizes.
‘This is an example, because we are having this gala physically after almost three years, so I encourage everybody to get back to normality, to start doing road trips and have personal meetings. Sometimes it’s not easy to find the people at the office, but let’s try.’
At the awards, Repsol was short-listed for best IR in the retail sector, best ESG materiality reporting (large cap) and best retail IR strategy.
IR Magazine splits its awards into two sections: awards-by-research are decided by a survey of portfolio managers, buy-side analysts and sell-side analysts covering European companies. These awards include best overall IR, best IR officer and best IR by sector.
The second section is awards-by-nomination. In this section, companies and their advisers can submit entries covering a range of IR practice areas, including best ESG reporting, best investor meetings and best innovation in IR. The winners are then decided by a panel of experts.
