IR should take a leading role on corporate governance issues, he suggests
Investors have new tools – such as say on pay – with which to scrutinise public companies, and firms will increasingly have to address corporate governance topics to tell an effective story, says Ron Schneider, senior vice president at Phoenix Advisory Partners.
With their communications experience, IROs are well placed to engage with investors on corporate governance issues, although they may need to develop new contacts at investment firms, such as compliance or governance specialists, Schneider continues.
