Jasmine Mehta, MSCI’s vice president for ESG and climate corporate sales EMEA, was one of the speakers at the panel session ‘Ensure the quality, reliability and accessibility of ESG data’ at the IR Magazine ESG Integration Forum – Europe.
Speakers offered insights on how to identify and report on material issues and how to communicate ESG information in an accessible and standardized way. They also cast an eye over future developments around ESG data estimating and reporting, and shared insights on how investors integrate data into their decision-making.
After the session, IR Magazine sat down for a one-to-one chat with Mehta for targeted advice on reporting on carbon emissions and an explanation of how rating agencies ensure their analysis reflects different regional or sector norms.
‘How are these emissions projected for the future? How do they fit into an overall carbon budget? Are they really under-shooting or shooting the carbon budget?’ she asked.
‘[It’s about] going above and beyond Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 in an absolute sense and [being able] to provide the market with a certain sense of understandable, intuitive, degree-aligned metrics.’
