International accounting standards are treated with skepticism in some markets, but Swiss companies have welcomed them with open arms
Few countries have taken so quickly to international accounting standards (IAS) as Switzerland. Around 100 Swiss companies have already adopted IAS, more than three times the number found in Germany or France. 'Switzerland has by far the most companies in the world with IAS,' says Urs Moser from Atag Ernst & Young in Zurich. And, says Moser, the number will increase as IAS becomes more of a global norm.
