Emmanuelle Palikuca, managing director and head of sustainability advisory at Alliance Advisors, spoke at the recent IR Magazine ESG Integration Forum – Europe.
During her panel session alongside two other IR professionals, she addressed issues within the ESG space such as the wider global factors affecting businesses, including the war in Ukraine, rising energy prices and inflation.
Palikuca also spoke about where ESG is heading and how historically there had been more focus on the environmental part of the acronym, whereas now social is becoming more important.
After the session, IR Magazine sat down for a one-to-one chat with Palikuca for targeted advice on what the SASB’s focus on double-materiality means for companies and how global challenges are impacting investment and divestment.
‘I absolutely think social is becoming more prominent in the ESG acronym,’ she said. ‘The environment part has definitely historically been the focus, specifically climate change – we [can] see that [in] the required TCFD reporting in the UK and through the EU taxonomy; that really puts environment as a front-and-center priority.
‘But with the impacts of Covid and the war in Ukraine, we’re certainly seeing the necessity to hone in on the social part and evolve efforts around it.’
