IR TV Now: Episode Two goes live and unpicks the latest regulatory moves

A deeper look at what the FCA reform proposal, ISSB Standards and EU AI Act mean for listed companies

IR Magazine is delighted to announce the launch of the second episode of IR TV Now, the show dedicated to hearing from IR professionals around the globe.

During this episode we unpick all things regulation, looking at the launch of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) Standards, the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) listing rules reform proposal and the upcoming EU Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act.

Noemi Distefano, reporter at IR Magazine, attended the IFRS Foundation’s annual conference where chair Emmanuel Faber announced the launch of the new ISSB Standards. Here, she speaks to Sue Lloyd, vice chair of the board, to find out more about the practical steps companies can take to comply with the new rules.

At the IR Magazine Think Tank – Europe 2023, we spoke with Sophie Platts, group head of sustainability at Entain, and Tish Crawford-Jones, investor relations director at Q4. They share advice on how companies can prepare for the ISSB Standards. In addition, Panos Seretis, managing director and head of ESG and sustainable finance at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, explains the impact the standards will have on corporates worldwide.

Regulating the use of AI

Clare Cole, director of market oversight at the FCA, explains the reasons for the listing rules reform as well as the impact Brexit had in the lead-up to the decision. Naureen Zahid, director of investor relations at OpenOcean, weighs in on the reform and whether it will be beneficial for businesses.

Meanwhile, Dragoș Tudorache, a member of the European Parliament, discusses the need to regulate AI across Europe and explains the decision behind regulating not the technology itself, but the use of it.

IR Magazine also recently attended the NIRI Annual Conference 2023, where we asked IR professionals what they thought about the EU AI act and how the technology might be applicable to IR. Darrell Heaps, CEO of Q4, and Nimesh Davé, president of Notified, offer their advice.

Christoph Greitemann, senior IR manager at Deutsche Telekom, discusses whether there should be a need for disclosures with AI and looks at the impact it has on the IR profession.
